I believe there are times when poetry is the only way to express your thoughts. I wrote this selection to help me cope with the loss of a relationship and as a way to recover from all of the betrayal I experienced during and after it. Though the experience was painful, writing it down helped ease the sting. I highly recommend keeping a journal or diary to capture your feelings and thoughts. Getting the emotions out will assist you as you work through life’s challenges.
Show Me Where Your Love Hides
I can’t help but wonder how my life would be different
If I could tell the truth from your lies,
I gave you my heart,
And you sent it adrift
I should’ve known you were darkness in disguise.
I thought we’d be together
I was sure I’d found forever
I never thought I’d pale in your eyes
And even through my heartache
My weakness is you
So please, tell me where your love hides,
Please, show me where your love hides.
Now I sit for hours
Alone in my room
Lost and abandoned in time,
I seek out a refuge,
And replay those memories—
Hidden in dark corners of my mind.
I thought we’d be together
I was sure I’d found forever
I never thought I’d pale in your eyes
And even through my heartache
My weakness is you
So please, tell me where your love hides,
Please, show me where your love hides.
I need you to find me
And give my life a purpose
I need to know your heart wasn’t blind,
I watch in slow motion as slowly but surely,
Reason and wisdom pass me by.
I can’t seem to help it
My weakness is you,
I guess I am yours by design,
I’ll wait here forever
Ready and waiting
For you to show me where your love hides,
Please, show me where your love hides.
